• Online Registration : If registering goes without pain You should act promptly, Registration for 2013 soldout in less than 24 h. After Online Payment, a confirmation Email is sent to you and that’s it .. You are all set ! • Lodging : I have early on contacted Naro, thru AirBnB. Located at Marina, 15 mn drive from Conference Center and Parking . Her place is spotless and has no issue about us and early wake up, as long as you keep it quiet ! • Expo : That’s what you can call an expo, after 28 years in the business, all is well organized, planned. Lot of stands, free samples, and very very interesting people. At Bib pick up my wife had to show an ID, I have not ! then we collected free shuttle tickets, info for free parking, and got our Big Sur long sleeves Dry tech shirt; my only complain here is that they have kept exactly the same type of shirt All Same Same colors & logo only year different ! • Race day : Early wake up but you knew that ! Buses leave between 3:30 am and 4 am, 3 h before race. From Monterey they still have to drive you to starting line. On nice day, mornings are frisky, plan warn clothing you will toss away. It’s an open area right in Big Sur Park, if you are unlucky to get a rainy day what could be hell. Plenty of toilets as you won’t be allowed to release yourself in nature; Unfortunately and as always I fail to understand why most of races don’t have portable man’s urinal, I have seen those at Marseille and Tokyo Marathons reducing the unnecessary overcrowded long waiting lines. • Route : Known as the most Scenic Marathon in USA for a reason. A thrilling, breathtaking one way run; Not as hilly as you could believe but yet challenging. Starting through the forest it goes all down hill and as always you will be challenged trying not to start too fast. You will then start a smooth magnificent climb ! Look up ! Enjoy the scene it worth it as much as Hurricane Point. Magic will then do it’s trick and even if not a windy day. You will be blown away as you reach Hurricane Point followed by what i will cal beautiful gifts Downhill time, Bixby Bridge, Piano time, Seals time, Strawberry time as well as lot of Music band, Water and Gatorade handed to you by lot of volunteers ~ we need to Thanks ~ • Finish line : Just like the starting line it’s a great beautiful open place Solid food and hot soup will be waiting for you after being rewarded with a very unique Finisher’s Medal. By the music band stage you will find the Free Beer tent. the perfect place to chill out . Note : 5 out of 5 . |
