Comments | • Registration : Loch Ness Marathon has been on my radar for quite a while; after an easy online registration made more than a semester in advance, we were offered free accommodation by a friend of mine. However the offer failed on us just a mere 3 weeks before Day D. What a bump ! 🙁 • Lodging : Fortunately, we managed to find the right B&B at the right price. Inverness located in the North of Scotland is the Home of the World famous…Nessie! That little town is magnificent, peaceful surrounded by a lot of activities as long as you got your own car • Expo and Pasta : The expo located 5mn walk from Downtown is orderly prepared and nice Bibs and Micro-Chips come along free drinks and biscuits The pasta party, however is the dark side of that perfect organization: 10 £ a single plate and no 2nd serving. You are better off dinning at this delicious restaurant called Bella Italia located 10 mn walk away from park but you will need advanced booking • Race day : Buses are all lined up to take all runners for a good 2 hour ride to starting line where a genuine Scottish Band playing Bag-pipes will open the race. The 42km down hill route is rolling with some good nice ups to challenge your strength running through rural countryside longing the Loch Ness on your left a 1 km long up hill will test your stamina at Km 33 before letting you roll down the town. Fans will cheer you up, some offering candies & sweets • Finish line : Finishers will be honored with a memorable Medal and a Tech Dry Shirt Free Banquet will be provided only to runners If not for the miserable pasta Party and Loud Music band Loch Ness Marathon is one of the very few events I will run again. • Note: 5 out of 5 toes |
