| Comments | • Registration : I have been thinking-dreaming about that race and decided to give it a go in 2010 after our one week visit of Iceland. I registered online and an accurate confirmation email came timely. • Lodging : Rented a flat through Einholt Apartments • Expo : The decent size expo with lot of stands, food and sport drinks is located about 30mn walk from Tourist district but a bus can take you there. During Bib pick up : No question or printed confirmation needed, not even a proof of ID you will be simply asked for your Bib Number. Runners who have pre-selected a large size T.shirt will have the opportunity of choosing between 2 Colors: a Red or White. The red Dry-tech Jersey had my preference. You will be given an official Micro chip that must you activate. The all you can eat Tomato sauce – cheese Pasta and Salad party which is held in the same building is free even for family members. • Race day : Starting and Finishing lines are same ones and located downtown a short walk from most hotels. You can drop your belongings at the tent roof covered in case of rain. • Route : This strangely challenging Route is mostly flat with no major slope. Spectators and Music Bands were showing some enthusiasm during first 10 km but dried up and mushroomed back up around finishing line but race is quite scenic You also run which half marathon runners to keep you company. We all start at same time. Fluid Stations are well positioned with water and sport drinks No solid before half mark with only Bananas and Chocolate and in both case once only. • Finish line : Finishing line is surrounded by lot of people. Finishers will be given a simple but nice medal plus an Asics emergency blanket. Foods and Drinks are scarce … August 20 2011 was also Culture Day … so we had lot of Musicians and Street Shows who kept us entertained all day long Icelanders deserve respect in terms of Marathon’s Organization, Kindness and Caring.
