Georgetown.
the capital of Penang, is listed as the UNESCO World Heritage to preserve the old & famous historical buildings
located in the north east side of Penang and at the west side of the whole Peninsular Malaysia.
We have spent 2 full months there House and pet sitting and loved it every single minute.
But note that we are MM2H holders , Penang is not new to us.
And to be honest i will say that those historical building are the only place worth to visit and hang around .
Batu Feringghi which is situated around 18km from Georgetown is ..only good for a one day trip …
we stayed there couple of years back for 2 weeks
Tourists often pcik an Hotel there, visit the beach and are stuck in their soul-less resorts
That said B.F doesn’t worth it and is a waste of Money if you are a World travelers
Wandering in the early morning of the day by prayer’s calls were my highlights.
Peacefully walking George, one of the dog we were sitting off leash a delight .
Enjoying the stalls. local joints and all those delicacies places
near by Armenian Street or Little India.
and all the places easily accessible on foot or by small motorbike .
And that exactly what one should be doing :
– rent a small 125 cc, for 2 persons at 25 MYR a day , or 23/day if rented a week
– Enjoy the island :
… ride to the national park at dawn ,
… run or hike to Monkey beach , come back by Ferry to Park entrance .
… Visit Hindou and Chinese temples
… the Snake farm temple perhaps the only temple of its kind in the World.
… practice Shao-lin Kung fu with the Penang Sao Lim Athletic Association
… Join couple of running groups there who wander in the Jungle
… or last but not least at the end of September the icing on the cake :
Run round the island 84 or 100 km
We loved it here despite the Haze, the hopeless traffic the rain-showers, the storms and the flooding !
Hopefully see you next year !
